Editor wanted: 10-minute cinematic personal short film

I am commissioning a private 9–10-minute birthday film constructed from family photographs, travel archive, short home-video clips and personal narration.

This is not intended to be a conventional slideshow or an AI showcase. The desired tone is cinematic, intimate, poetic and gently mischievous, with strong photographic pacing, sensitive sound design, restrained motion graphics and a small number of impressionistic AI-assisted shots where genuine archive is missing.

A detailed screenplay, timing map, source-file map, editorial blueprint, transition plan, AI prompts and guide narration have already been prepared. The creative direction is substantially locked.

Schedule

- Appointment and media transfer: 3–5 October

- First assembly: by 12 October

- Consolidated review: 13 October

- Fine cut and final narration replacement: 14–16 October

- Final sound, colour and masters: by 20 October

Deliverables

- 9:30–9:50 finished 16:9 film

- 4K and 1080p H.264 screening versions

- High-quality master

- Separate subtitle file

- Project file and linked-media handover

- Two revision rounds

- Documentation of music and AI-generation licences

Budget

NZ$1,200–1,500 fixed fee for the editor’s work, depending on experience and included services.

Please respond with:

1. Two examples of emotionally driven, documentary or photographic editing

2. An example demonstrating sound design or restrained motion graphics

3. Your proposed workflow and software

4. Confirmation that you can meet the dates above

5. Your fixed quote and precisely what it includes

The material is private family archive. It must remain confidential, must not be used in a portfolio or shared publicly, and working copies must be deleted after final handover.
