The upholsterer will inspect and prepare furniture frames, cut and measure fabrics, and perform sewing, padding, and covering of seats, sofas, chairs, and other pieces. Daily tasks include stripping old upholstery, repairing or reinforcing structures, installing springs, foam, and webbing, and finishing items with details such as trims, buttons, and decorative elements. The role also involves reading work orders, interpreting design specifications, maintaining tools and workstations, and ensuring that all completed pieces meet quality and safety standards. Collaboration with colleagues and clear communication with supervisors about timelines, materials, and project requirements are important aspects of the position.<br><strong>Qualifications<br></strong> <ul><li>Strong upholstery skills, including stripping, padding, covering, and finishing various furniture pieces.</li><li>Experience working with seating projects, such as chairs, sofas, benches, and custom-built seats.</li><li>Knowledge of tapestry and decorative fabric application, including patterns, trims, and detailed finishing.</li><li>Hands-on experience with furniture repair, frame preparation, and basic structural adjustments.</li><li>Proficient sewing skills, including hand sewing and use of industrial sewing machines.</li><li>Attention to detail, good manual dexterity, and ability to work safely with tools and equipment.</li><li>Capability to read and follow work orders, measurements, and design instructions in English or French.</li><li>Previous professional experience as an upholsterer / rembourreur or related trade experience.</li><li>Ability to stand, bend, lift, and handle materials throughout the workday.</li><li>Reliability, punctuality, and commitment to maintaining a clean and organized workspace.</li></ul>
