The Work

The purpose of the Senior Training Specialist is to develop and deliver training programs for existing credit union registered plans trustee program participants. This position is responsible for meeting or exceeding the registered plans training revenue budget. This position reports directly to Senior Director, Registered Plans.

85% Delivery of Training

  • Work directly with credit union registered plans administrative staff to support their administration of registered plans, while ensuring they are adhering to current legislation to ensure regulatory compliance to reduce financial and reputational risk, and ultimately protect the investments of individual clients.
  • Liaise with registered plans trustee services and administration teams to maintain a strong understanding of existing products and procedures.
  • Work with subject-matter experts to determine content for course modules.
  • Independently design and develop participant’s workbooks and activities to facilitate the transfer of learning.
  • Deliver best-in-class training via web-based instructor-led training.
  • Ensure effective logistics.. e.g scheduling of courses, sending invitations, reminders, recognition of participant achievements for three levels of completion, etc.
  • Manage the course evaluation process by ensuring evaluations are summarized and logged in the data tracking system.
  • Independently conduct post training evaluation to determine effectiveness of training and adjust the delivery method/materials as required. 
  • Drive opportunity to innovate training content and methods to adapt to changing business needs i.e. new product launch, legislative changes, etc.
  • Monitor client satisfaction, assess the scope of issues, and collaborate with registered plans trustee team, and other business units to implement resolutions.

15% Administrative Support

  • Assist the registered plans trustee team in the review and updates of the department procedures manual.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with internal support groups and other business units.

Let's Talk About You!

  • 5-7 years of experience in registered plans administration role. 
  • 3 years of experience in training adult learners virtually. 
  • Prior experience in the credit union system. 
  • University/College Degree in finance, business, or related field. 
  • Certificate in Teaching and Training Adults.
  • Technical writing is a definite asset. 
  • Experience in the financial services industry, knowledge of registered plans specifically RRSP, RRIF, Locked-in, TFSA, RESP, RDSP, FHSA. 
  • Solid knowledge of various software packages, including, MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and various training tools and web-based applications. 
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively.
