Technical Writer, Estonia (Remote)

This a Full Remote job, the offer is available from: Europe, European Union, EMEA, Estonia

Your Mission

Department: Product / Documentation
 Reports to: VP, Product
 Location: Remote
 Type: Full time maternity cover

We're looking for a Technical Writer to join our Product team on a full-time, remote maternity cover. You'll be the person who turns what our Product Managers and Engineers build into documentation customers can use: help center articles, user guides, release notes, API docs, and in-app content.

The day-to-day is hands-on. You'll get into features before they ship, interview the people who know them best, and own each piece from first draft through publishing and upkeep. You'll also keep existing docs accurate as the product changes, and work with Support and Customer Success to fix the gaps customers keep running into.

You'll report to our VP, Product, and you'll have room to shape how we do things, from our style guide and templates to how the help center is organised. This is a good fit if you're self-directed, enjoy making complicated things simple, and can keep several projects moving at once.

What You Will Do

  • Write and maintain user guides, help center articles, release notes, API documentation, and in-app content

  • Partner with Product Managers and Engineers to understand new features ahead of release and translate them into customer-facing documentation

  • Interview subject matter experts (SMEs) to extract and structure technical information

  • Own documentation projects end-to-end — from planning and drafting through review, publishing, and maintenance

  • Audit and refresh existing documentation to keep it accurate as the product evolves

  • Work within (and help evolve) our style guide, templates, and content standards

  • Collaborate with Support and Customer Success to identify documentation gaps based on customer questions and tickets

  • Contribute to information architecture decisions for the docs site/help center

  • Use analytics and customer feedback to measure content effectiveness and prioritise updates

  • Occasionally support other content needs — release announcements, internal knowledge base articles, onboarding materials

What You'll Bring To The Role

  • 2+ years of professional technical writing experience, ideally in a SaaS, software, or technology environment

  • Proven ability to explain complex technical concepts simply for a non-technical or semi-technical audience

  • Strong written English — grammar, clarity, tone, and structure

  • Experience working directly with engineers and/or product managers to gather technical information

  • Experience using AI writing/authoring tools to accelerate drafting or content audits

  • Familiarity with a documentation/help center platform (e.g., Confluence, Zendesk Guide, ReadMe, GitBook, ClickHelp, MadCap Flare, or similar)

  • Basic understanding of software development concepts (APIs, releases, bug vs. feature, staging vs. production)

  • Experience with version control or structured content workflows (e.g., Git, Markdown, or a CMS-based review process)

  • A strong portfolio of published documentation samples

  • Self-directed and organised — comfortable managing multiple documentation projects and deadlines simultaneously

  • A background or interest in information architecture and taxonomy design

  • Familiarity with Markdown, HTML/CSS basics, or static site generators (Docusaurus, Hugo, Jekyll)

Nice-to-Have

  • Experience with DITA/XML or structured authoring/single-sourcing

  • Experience documenting REST or GraphQL APIs, including reading OpenAPI/Swagger specs

  • Exposure to localization/translation workflows for multi-language documentation

  • Basic screen recording/video or GIF creation skills for tutorials

  • Experience using AI writing/authoring tools to accelerate drafting or content audits

  • Familiarity with UX writing or in-app microcopy

  • Experience with content analytics (e.g., Google Analytics, docs-specific analytics) to inform prioritisation

  • Prior experience in a fast-growing startup or scale-up environment

  • Basic scripting or command-line comfort (helpful for docs-as-code workflows)
