Faculty/Department Faculty of Social Work Unit Social Work - Sessionals Employee Group URFA CUPE 5791 Job Family Category Sessional Number of Vacancies N/A Position Summary The Faculty of Social Work at the University of Regina invites applications for one Sessional Lecturer to teach the following Regina in person course during the Fall 2026 semester:

SW 200 – Introduction to Social Work

This course introduces students to the profession of social work, its theory and practice. Students examine the philosophy and practice of social work in Canada, both in First Nations and non-First Nations communities.

The semester class period is from September 1, 2026 to December 22, 2026 with the final exam period running from December 9, 2026 to December 22, 2026.

Sessional Lecturers that are teaching remote delivery courses are expected to teach 13 synchronous classes throughout the semester.

Expectations for Sessional Lecturers include, but aren’t limited to, the following:

  • Preparing the course outline, designing relevant assignments, evaluating and grading student work, and submitting student grades by the required deadline.
  • Teaching course content that follows the course description, established learning objectives, and university academic guidelines .
  • Delivering 13 lectures throughout the semester.
  • Encouraging and maintaining a safe and collaborative classroom environment .
  • Providing regular support to students on course work during office hours, and as required by students.
  • Consulting with the Associate Dean (Undergraduate Programs) on academic or student- related matters as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Master of Social Work (MSW);
  • Demonstrated related experience appropriate to the course content description as listed above;
  • Superior communications skills (both written and verbal);
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail;
  • Recent teaching experience in a post-secondary environment is considered an asset.
Physical Demands Pay Grade Faculty Sessional Salary Range As per URFA Collective Agreement Status Term Work Hours This course is offered on Wednesdays 8:30 a.m. – 11:15 a.m.

The Sessional Lecturer is expected to teach remote delivery via Zoom (synchronous) for each of the 13 lectures, be in the Zoom room 10-15 minutes before each class starts, as well as offer regular office hours for their students each week.
