Senior Strategic Policy Advisor

SENIOR STRATEGIC POLICY ADVISOR Position Summary The Senior Strategic Policy Advisor is responsible for leading policy reviews and conducting policy analyses in support of the College’s mandate. Reporting to the Manager, Strategic Policy, the Senior Strategic Policy Advisor manages complex policy portfolios, and provides advice and guidance to other members of the department, Management and Leadership teams on policy issues related to the practice of pharmacy in Ontario. What you’ll do at OCPResponsible for the leadership and project management of College policy development and review initiatives and projects requiring policy expertiseLead, plan and coordinate assigned policy development/review projects to conceptualize, plan, develop, and recommend policies and impact/uptake measuresIn keeping with the College’s practice risk-based approach, undertake all aspects of policy development and review, including proactive environmental scanning, analysis of pharmacy practice and policy trends and directions, issue identification, analysis and synthesis of research and related evaluation materials, internal and external consultations, and planning for implementationAnalyze research evidence and data, both internal and external, to support decision making and development of policySupport the Board in the submission of regulations to government, including analyzing research and providing assistance and support to Ministry staff members to maximize opportunity for government approvalAnalyze and evaluate the policy proposals of other regulators, health system partners, and federal and provincial governments, which may intersect or impact pharmacy practiceConduct jurisdictional and environmental scanning to identify potential legislative/regulatory reform or policy responseContinually examine work process and explore opportunities for improving efficiencies through technology, elimination or altering of work processes and make recommendations to the Manager, Strategic PolicyModel behaviors aligned with the Mission, Goals, Values and Strategic Priorities of the organization Support the measurement and delivery of the OCP Service Charter to meet the College’s service commitments.Encourage discussion and exploration of ideas which come from differing perspectives, ensuring to include and collaborate with all team membersInspire, motivate, and lead the project team, demonstrating excellence, expertise, and personal credibility, ensuring knowledge and expertise are shared freely amongst membersActively enlist input from all team members supporting an approach to decision making and process development that is collaborativeOther reasonable duties as assigned by the Manager, Strategic PolicyWhat we’re looking forIndependent analyst with excellent interpersonal skillsStrong critical thinking skills to identify, develop, analyze and synthesize policy issuesProven ability to exercise a high degree of judgment, initiative, and planning to determine appropriate courses of actionStrong problem solving and conflict resolution skillsStrong organizational, analytical and facilitation skillsExcellent time management and prioritization skillsExcellent verbal, non-verbal, and written communication skills.
