Senior Game Engineer – Unreal
Job Description:
- Build and own game features in Unreal Engine using C++ and Blueprint, from early implementation through iteration and polish
- Work closely with design to translate game ideas into technically sound, responsive player experiences
- Make architectural decisions supporting player experience, performance, maintainability, and future live-service needs
- Shape technical approaches, engineering standards, and patterns across the Unreal codebase
- Identify technical debt and make pragmatic decisions about what to address now versus later
- Collaborate with engineers through technical discussions, code reviews, pairing, and knowledge sharing
- Help the team use Unreal Engine and its native systems effectively
- Evaluate and improve performance, stability, and scalability for mobile
- Collaborate across the game client, backend services, gameplay prototyping and implementation, technical art, and external engineering partners
- Raise technical risks, challenge assumptions constructively, and help resolve trade-offs
Requirements:
- Significant professional game development experience with deep hands-on expertise in Unreal Engine, C++, and Blueprint
- Experience building and shipping gameplay features and game systems on one or more Unreal titles
- Strong architectural and systems thinking with a player-first mindset
- Deep understanding of Unreal-specific engineering decisions, including when to work with, extend, or customize the engine
- Excellent judgment around technical trade-offs and solution scope
- Ability to understand the wider technical picture of a game
- Confident, collaborative communication and ability to explain technical decisions clearly
- Ability to take ownership of loosely defined problems and move them forward independently
- Comfortable adapting as the game iterates and responds to player feedback
- Open and proactive use of AI-assisted development tools as part of daily workflow
- Experience mentoring, pairing with, or informally guiding engineers
- Experience with procedural or generative content systems in Unreal
- Experience shipping or scaling a live-service game
- Mobile game development experience
- Mobile performance optimization experience, including profiling, memory, rendering, and device constraints
- Experience in a small studio, startup, strike team, or other high-ownership engineering environment
