The role will be required to successfully pass Site Access Security Clearance (CSIS Level 1). Job Summary The Senior Business Advisor, Nuclear Business & Governance is accountable to provide leadership and direction to a portfolio of projects and work functions related to nuclear financing and investment strategy.

As a member of SaskPower’s management team, this position is responsible for the effective utilization of financial, material, and human resources to manage, coordinate, and lead complex business initiatives from start to finish, ensuring alignment with departmental and corporate strategic goals and objectives.

The role provides strategic advice and analysis to support major investment and financing decisions for nuclear development initiatives, including Small Modular Reactors (SMRs), and represents SaskPower in interactions with external financial partners and stakeholders.

Key Accountabilities

  • Provide leadership and direction to projects and major business initiatives related to nuclear financing, investment strategy, and funding approaches
  • Plan, organize, direct, control, and evaluate projects and initiatives from start to finish according to timelines, objectives, and available resources
  • Lead the development of business cases, financial analysis, and investment recommendations for large-scale capital projects, ensuring alignment with corporate strategic plans and forecasting initiatives
  • Lead the identification, assessment, and development of financing options, including debt markets, institutional investors, sovereign funds, and Indigenous equity partnerships
  • Establish and manage strategic relationships with external investors, financial institutions, Indigenous partners, and industry stakeholders to support potential project funding
  • Develop and implement frameworks, processes, and methodologies to support nuclear financing strategies and governance requirements
  • Provide strategic advice, recommendations, and reporting to senior leadership and Executive to inform investment decisions and corporate direction
  • Prepare presentations, briefing materials, and reports for internal and external stakeholders, including senior management and executive leadership
  • Represent SaskPower on matters both internal and external to the corporation, including engagement with financial partners and industry participants
  • Monitor project progress and provide updates on risks, opportunities, and outcomes associated with financing strategies and initiatives
  • Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of processes, standards, and approaches related to nuclear business and governance
  • Other related duties as assigned
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Commerce, or other related equivalent AND/OR;
  • Related professional designation(s) and/or certification(s) AND/OR;
  • Seven (7) years related experience in financial analysis, investment strategy, project financing, or a related field
  • Ability to strategize, plan and organize
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills
  • Results oriented thinker, with the ability to influence and manage complex and confidential issues with sensitivity and professionalism
  • Ability to meet deadlines and deals with quick turnaround
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
  • Ability to foster a culture focused on safety, innovation and teamwork
  • Demonstrated skill in SaskPower’s competencies
