Security Officer, Public Safety

Commissionaires BC is proud to provide security services to a high-profile Government of Canada Public Safety site located in the Burnaby/Vancouver area.

We are currently seeking professional, customer-focused security personnel who are interested in working in a highly secure government environment and are willing and able to successfully complete the Top Secret Security Clearance process.

Position Details

  • Pay Rate: $26.00 per hour
  • Schedule Requirements: Candidates must have open availability, including weekends, evenings, overnight shifts, and shift rotations.

Ideal Candidates Will:

  • Demonstrate exceptional customer service skills when interacting with employees, visitors, and clients.
  • Have experience working within strict policies, procedures, and security protocols.
  • Remain calm and professional when responding to emergency situations.
  • Possess strong integrity, sound judgment, and professionalism.
  • Be honest, trustworthy, and reliable.
  • Be eligible to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Security Clearance.
  • Hold a valid BC Security Worker Licence and OFA Level 1 certification, or be willing to obtain them.
  • Be able to work a variety of shifts, including days, afternoons, overnights, weekends, and holidays.

Top Secret Security Clearance Requirements

To be considered for this opportunity, candidates must meet the requirements for a Government of Canada Top Secret Security Clearance, including:

  • A minimum of 10 years of residency in Canada.
  • Canadian citizenship.
  • No criminal involvement or associations that could impact clearance eligibility.

The Top Secret Clearance process may include:

  • Completion of detailed security screening documentation.
  • An extensive background investigation covering personal history, employment, residences, character references, and associations.
  • Review of financial history and personal conduct.
  • A polygraph examination, which candidates must successfully complete.
Please Note: Due to the nature of the clearance process, approval can take approximately 10 to 12 months. Candidates must be prepared to remain committed throughout the clearance process and intend to work at the site once clearance is granted. Temporary employment opportunities may be available while the clearance is being processed.
