[Remote] HR Manager - People & Consultant Experience (background working in Staffing Industry)

The HR Manager will lead the people-facing side of the U.S. HR function by managing consultant experience and retention, employee relations, management support, engagement, HR programs, internal interviews, and oversight of HR operations. Responsibilities Own the HR relationship with active U.S. consultants after onboarding Establish a structured consultant-care program with periodic check-ins throughout the assignment lifecycle Build relationships with consultants who may rarely interact with ARK directly Identify dissatisfaction, manager concerns, assignment risks, benefit questions, and potential retention issues before they become resignations or client problems Work closely with Account Management to share appropriate consultant feedback and address concerns Support consultants through assignment changes, difficult client situations, and other employment-related matters Help consultants continue to view ARK as their employer and career partner while working at client locations Serve as a trusted HR resource for employees, consultants and managers Manage employee-relations matters with fairness, discretion and appropriate documentation Conduct workplace investigations, gather facts, interview relevant parties and recommend appropriate action Coach managers through performance, attendance, conduct, communication and employee-management issues Support corrective actions, performance discussions and separations Recognize situations requiring escalation to senior leadership or employment counsel Help strengthen employee engagement, communication and recognition across ARK Monitor morale and identify emerging people issues Partner with leadership on employee communication and organizational initiatives Help create consistency in how ARK's values and leadership expectations are communicated across locations Build a strong working relationship with India HR leadership and help serve as a bridge between U.S. leadership and our India organization Participate in and progressively own HR initiatives such as benefits/open enrollment, employee communication, policy rollouts, employee surveys and other people programs Support multi-state HR compliance and changing employment requirements in partnership with appropriate internal and external resources Coordinate with benefits providers, attorneys and other external partners as required Support immigration-related employee communication and coordination when needed; specialized legal matters are handled with immigration counsel Assist with unemployment, workers' compensation and other employee matters as appropriate Conduct first-level HR and behavioral interviews for selected internal positions Assess communication, motivation, work style, management compatibility and organizational fit not simply resume qualifications Provide hiring managers with concise interview assessments, risks and areas requiring further evaluation Work closely with ARK's India-based HR Administration Specialists supporting U.S. operations Establish expectations, priorities, deadlines and quality standards Review and audit work rather than becoming the primary processor of routine transactions Ensure onboarding/offboarding, employee documentation, HR records, background-check administration, HRIS/JobDiva updates and recurring HR activities are completed accurately and timely Step into operational work when circumstances require it while continuously improving delegation and process efficiency Skills Strong employee-relations judgment An experienced, hands-on HR professional Approximately 7+ years of progressive U.S. HR experience Strong employee-relations and workplace-investigation experience Practical knowledge of U.S. employment practices and multi-state HR Experience with onboarding/offboarding, benefits and HR compliance sufficient to oversee those functions Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to communicate comfortably with employees, consultants, managers and senior leadership Strong judgment and ability to handle sensitive matters confidentially Comfortable operating in a growing entrepreneurial organization where responsibilities may not always fit neatly into departmental boundaries Comfortable being hands-on when required while also knowing what should be delegated Experience with an ATS/HRIS Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience Staffing, consulting, professional services or a distributed workforce environment strongly preferred Meaningful experience supporting consultants, contingent workers or employees assigned to client locations strongly preferred Experience working with offshore/shared-services HR teams is preferred JobDiva experience is helpful but not required Benefits Hybrid or remote work arrangement; periodic travel to Reston, VA is required Benefits and open enrollment support Employee communication and recognition initiatives Company Overview ARK Solutions is an IT company that offers software consultancy services.
