Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) / Early Childhood Assistant (ECA)

We are currently seeking Registered Early Childhood Educators (RECEs) and Early Childhood Assistants (ECAs) to support licensed childcare centres throughout the Greater Toronto Area.

In this role, you will support the care, learning, development, and safety of children from infant to school age. Depending on your qualifications and the needs of the centre, you may support or lead age-appropriate programming while working collaboratively with centre staff to provide a safe, inclusive, and high-quality childcare environment.

Working Conditions

  • Occasional light to medium physical effort, including lifting, bending, and stooping.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in all seasons.
  • Work assignments may vary based on childcare centre staffing needs.

Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation of developmentally appropriate programs and daily activities.
  • RECEs may be required to fulfill lead educator responsibilities and implement programming in accordance with centre requirements.
  • Promote the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual well-being of children.
  • Provide supervision and prioritize the health and safety of children.
  • Understand and comply with CCEYA, public health requirements, centre policies, and Sentient HR policies.
  • Facilitate and participate with children in planned activities and learning experiences.
  • Observe children's development and support required documentation in accordance with the responsibilities of the assigned role.
  • Report issues, incidents, or concerns in accordance with centre procedures.
  • Build positive and professional relationships with children, families, centre staff, and colleagues.
  • Work cooperatively as part of the childcare centre team and maintain a positive and professional attitude.
  • Perform other duties appropriate to the assigned role.

Requirements

For RECE Applicants

  • ECE Diploma from a recognized Ontario college or equivalent recognized qualification.
  • Registered and in Good Standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators.

For ECA Applicants

  • Previous childcare experience of at least a year and/or relevant education is preferred.
  • Ability to effectively support RECEs and other childcare centre staff in providing high-quality care and programming.

Requirements for All Applicants

  • Clear Vulnerable Sector Police Check within the required timeframe.
  • Valid Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification.
  • Knowledge of or willingness to become familiar with HDLH, AQI, and CCEYA.
  • Reliable transportation and ability to travel to assignments throughout the GTA Region.
  • Ability to work effectively with children from infant to school age.
  • Strong communication, reliability, and teamwork skills.
