Regional Director, Specialized Lending

Bank’s Specialized Lending team is responsible for partnering with advisors to provide solutions that help their high net-worth clients, grow, protect, and transfer their hard-earned wealth.

The Specialized

Lending team helps craft solutions to allow advisors to maximize the insurance and investment strategies they’ve put in place for these clients. Well versed in insurance and investment strategies, this team is adept in constructing lending solutions that are easy to understand, suited to a client’s individual needs and align with the advisor’s strategies for their clients.

Reporting to the AVP, Head of Specialized Lending Solutions the Regional Director Specialized Lending Solutions (RDS) role is responsible for providing specialized lending directly to end clients and in active collaboration with Financial Advisors within a specified territory. The RDS actively works with advisors, centres of influence, and clients to generate specialized lending and commercial mortgage opportunities. They then craft a lending solution that magnifies the impact of the advisor’s financial plan for their clients.

Position Responsibilities

  • Serve as the face for Manulife Life Bank’s specialized lending team in an assigned territory, demonstrating the highest level of professionalism and integrity.
  • Actively promote and provide solutions support for specialized lending products and associated banking solutions in direct collaboration with Financial Advisors in a specified territory
  • Present complete and robust packages to underwriting that demonstrate your knowledge of the transaction, the advisor’s financial strategy, the client’s business and why the bank should be participating in the transaction.
  • Contribute to the business development activities of the regional/national solutions team through the promotion of new products, product enhancements and special initiatives by way of phone, electronic and face-to-face presentations.
  • Contribute to the growth and profitability of the territory by maintaining a regular advisor contact program to ensure effective management and expansion of each Advisor relationship. Support financial advisors by working directly with centers of influence, professional advisors and end clients. Actively demonstrate the merits of integrating specialized lending solutions with the Advisor’s traditional insurance and investment business.
  • Act as problem solvers to improve organizational efficiency and effectiveness by highlighting opportunities for improvement in operational areas. Act as a conduit for feedback from the field by relaying ideas for improving existing products and services as well as new product opportunities.

Required Qualifications:
  • Excellent consultative sales capability, including prospecting, fact-finding, presenting solutions, closing, and servicing skills.
  • 10 or more years of business or commercial banking experience.
  • Strong ability to read and assess corporate financial statements against bank policies.
  • Highly organized and self-disciplined.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent negotiation skills.
  • Seasoned presentation skills across various formats.
  • Working knowledge of permanent life insurance.
  • Aptitude for learning and utilizing technology for business purposes.
  • Solid financial services and banking industry knowledge.
  • Ability to travel throughout the assigned territory.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks spanning diverse areas of responsibility in a thorough and expeditious manner by effectively organizing and prioritizing workflows.
  • Experience working with and coordinating bank initiatives across multiple distribution channels, as well as working directly with advisors, professionals, and clients.
  • Ability to assess the likelihood of the bank’s participation in a lending proposal following preliminary review and analysis.
  • Experience working closely with Manulife Private Wealth, Retail, Insurance, and Securities partners to foster a One Team approach for advisor partners.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset. If the successful candidate is in Québec, proficiency in both languages will be required to support clients from various provinces outside of Quebec.
