Disney’s production businesses support large-scale film and TV projects and rely on specialist freelance talent and advisors to maintain safety, quality, and creative standards across productions. ## Role Summary This is an Expression of Interest to join a pool of freelance Production Safety Advisors in Canada to support upcoming film and television productions. Advisors will help ensure safe working environments on-set and on location by advising production leadership, implementing safety systems, and managing risk for high‑hazard activities. ## Key Responsibilities - Promote a safety‑first culture by building strong, positive relationships with production teams and departments to encourage proactive safety practices - Partner with Producers and Unit Production Managers (UPMs) to maintain and advise on safe working environments throughout production phases - Develop, implement, and oversee safety management systems, accident prevention strategies, and safety training programs for cast and crew - Provide regulatory guidance and ensure compliance with applicable provincial authorities (e.g., Work. Safe BC, MOL Ontario, CNSST) and production requirements - Conduct and support risk assessments and planning for high‑risk activities such as stunts, special effects, pyrotechnics, rigging, and construction work - Advise departments on contractor safety and construction management, monitoring contractors and site safety practices - Prepare and deliver regular safety reporting to production leadership and document safety activities and incidents - Manage multiple projects and locations, coordinating safety resources and communication across departments ## Required Qualifications - Demonstrable production safety experience in the motion picture and television industry (minimum 3 years of relevant experience or equivalent) - Proven ability to implement and manage safety systems, safety training, and accident prevention programs on set and on location - Strong knowledge of contractor safety, construction safety, and regulatory compliance applicable in Canada (e.g., Work. Safe BC, MOL Ontario) - Experience advising production leadership (Producers, UPMs) and building positive working relationships with creative and technical teams - Strong project management, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple productions and locations ## Preferred Qualifications - Prior leadership experience in a safety management capacity on film or television productions - Experience supporting high‑risk departments (stunts, special effects, rigging, set construction) on larger productions - Recognized safety certifications (e.g., provincial safety certifications, COR, CRSP, NEBOSH) or relevant occupational health and safety credentials - Experience working with unionized productions and knowledge of common industry protocols and collective agreements ## Compensation & Benefits - Base pay range: approximately $2,500 to $6,500 per week (final offer varies by geography, experience, skills, and internal equity) - Engagements are typically freelance/contracted directly by productions; compensation and benefits depend on the contracting production - Opportunity to work on high‑profile, creative film and television projects and build a network of industry clients and producers ## Company Culture & Values The company emphasizes safety, creativity, and collaboration across productions and seeks to foster a proactive safety culture where teams work together to enable creative work while protecting cast and crew.
