Part-Time Delivery Driver & Warehouse Associate

R&D International Foods Inc.

Warehouse & Driving Associate

Part-time, on-site | $25 per hour | North York, Ontario

Reports to: Warehouse & Fulfillment Manager

Work location: 53 Samor Road, North York, Ontario, with deliveries across the GTA

Schedule: Predictable weekly part-time schedule; early-morning starts are typical on delivery days. Specific days and hours are communicated by management.

About R&D:

R&D International Foods is a Toronto-based food distribution and import/export company specializing in premium proteins and seafood for retail, restaurants and foodservice across Ontario and beyond. We care about doing the small things as well as accurate orders, clean trucks, safe products and reliable deliveries.

Built from the ground up by a millennial-led team, we are ambitious, hands-on and proud of what we are building.

We care for our customers, partners and staff. Bring your ideas, help your teammates, celebrate wins and enjoy the work. Fun is inclusive, voluntary and respectful, alongside accountability for the job.

Your role:

Split your time between the warehouse floor and the driver’s seat. Help receive, store, pick, pack and stage products, then deliver orders professionally across the GTA. This role suits someone who likes staying active, pays attention to detail and takes ownership of doing the job properly.

Warehouse and inventory support:

- Pick, verify, pack and stage orders against the approved pick list: correct product, quantity, lot, condition and customer requirements.

- Assist with unloading and receiving. Check incoming products against receiving documents; report shortages, damage, temperature concerns and other discrepancies before put-away.

- Move products into assigned storage locations and temperature zones promptly. Follow FIFO and any product-specific expiry or rotation instructions.

- Support cycle counts, location accuracy and inventory reconciliation. Record assigned movements accurately in approved systems; report discrepancies rather than making unsupported adjustments.

- Operate pallet jacks only when trained and authorized. Operate forklifts only with the required training, certification and company authorization.

- Keep warehouse floors, docks, aisles and storage areas clean, labelled, organized and ready for inspection.

Deliveries, vehicle care and order closeout:

- Verify the load against the delivery documents, secure products properly and maintain required temperature conditions throughout loading, transport and unloading.

- Deliver orders on assigned GTA routes. Confirm delivery addresses and instructions and communicate delays or failed deliveries promptly to the manager or designated operations contact.

- Drive responsibly and follow road, parking and loading rules. Operate only vehicles you are licensed, trained and authorized to drive; do not compromise safe driving to meet a delivery target.

- Represent R&D professionally and courteously at every stop. Verify deliveries with customers, obtain signatures or other proof of delivery, and record shortages, refusals or damage accurately.

- Return or submit proof of delivery and route paperwork promptly so delivered quantities, exceptions and company records can be reconciled. Follow instructions for returned or refused products.

- Complete assigned pre-trip and post-trip checks and logs. Report defects, collisions, damage and temperature deviations immediately; do not use an unsafe vehicle.

- Keep the vehicle clean, organized and food-safe inside and out. Protect keys, equipment, customer information and company property.

Food safety, workplace safety and reporting:

- Follow the Employee Handbook, current SOPs, cold-chain, sanitation, traceability, WHMIS and workplace safety instructions applicable to the work. Wear required protective equipment.

- Complete temperature, inspection, cleaning and other assigned records accurately and when the work occurs. Never fabricate, backdate or conceal records or discrepancies.

- Report unsafe conditions, injuries, near misses, contamination and product-integrity concerns promptly. Stop and escalate work that appears unsafe.

- Follow product-hold and quarantine instructions. Do not release held products, approve substitutions or change delivery commitments without authorization.

- Work within your training and authority, ask when unsure and cooperate with corrective actions and training.

How we work together:

- Arrive ready for scheduled work, record all hours worked accurately and notify your manager promptly if you will be late or absent.

- Take ownership: check your work, follow through, flag risks early and help solve recurring problems. Learn from errors and apply the agreed correction.

- Prioritize legitimate customer, company and team needs over personal convenience while protecting safety, food safety, respectful treatment and applicable rights.

- Communicate calmly with Warehouse, Operations, Sales and customers. Help teammates and contribute to a positive workplace without pressure to join social activities.

What you bring:

- Valid Ontario G license and a clean driving abstract. DZ is an asset, not a requirement for this role; assigned vehicles must match your license and authorization.

- Ability to perform repeated lifting and handling of loads up to 50 lbs, with appropriate equipment, safe handling practices and accommodation where required.

- Comfort working in refrigerated and freezer environments with appropriate clothing and protective equipment.

- Ability to commute to North York, work on-site and start early on scheduled delivery days; legal eligibility to work in Canada.

- Reliability, attention to detail, professional customer service and willingness to learn approved systems and procedures.

Assets: experience with cube vans, straight trucks or delivery vehicles; forklift certification; food distribution, cold-chain or warehouse experience; familiarity with GTA routes.

What you can expect:

- $25 per hour, with all hours worked recorded and paid. Other employment terms are set out in the employment agreement and applicable policies.

- A predictable part-time schedule, communicated by management, with early starts on delivery days.

- A small, growing team where contributions are noticed, ideas are welcome and people are treated with care.

- Opportunities to discuss more hours, responsibility or a future full-time role as business needs and performance allow.

Expected hours: 20.0 per week

Benefits:

  • Casual dress
