<p><em>Little Footprints Big Steps (LFBS) is a Canadian International Development Organization operating in Haiti that works to protect vulnerable children by reuniting families and empowering them with resources and opportunities to build a self-sufficient future. LFBS empowers vulnerable families that have been separated, or who are at risk of separation, by supporting local protection authorities in building a stronger child protection network. LFBS works to keep families together by addressing the root causes of separation and poverty through programming in child well-being and development, family and community development, advocacy of child rights, and community health.</em></p><p><strong>Role: </strong>Part-Time Bookkeeper/Accountant </p><p><strong>Employment Type: </strong>Independent Contractor. Flexible hours averaging 16 hours per month, with increased hours during busy periods.</p><p><strong>Contract length: </strong>1 year term with possibility for extension dependent on the success of the position</p><p><strong>Location: </strong>Remote</p><p><strong>Service Fee: </strong>$35/hour </p><p>Little Footprints Big Steps is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Bookkeeper/Accountant to support our growing international non-profit organization. This remote, independent contractor position plays an important role in ensuring the organization's financial records are accurate, up to date, and compliant with Canadian accounting standards and non-profit reporting requirements.</p><p>Working closely with the Executive Director, Treasurer, Financial Oversight Committee, and Board of Directors, you will oversee the organization's bookkeeping, financial reporting, and accounting processes while helping provide the financial information needed to support strategic decision-making.</p><p>In this role, you will play a key role in supporting an international non-profit organization dedicated to protecting vulnerable children and strengthening families in Haiti.</p><p><strong>Key Accountabilities </strong></p><ul><li>Prepare monthly financial statements, including:<ul><li>Cash Flow Statement</li><li>Balance Sheet</li><li>Statement of Operations (monthly and year-to-date)</li></ul></li><li>Receive monthly financial statements from our accounting team in Haiti and consolidate them with Canadian administrative expenses to produce organization-wide financial reports.</li><li>Prepare monthly donor financial reports.</li><li>Process the Executive Director's monthly payment and remit associated payroll taxes.</li><li>Prepare annual government filings.</li><li>Prepare annual donation receipts (where required for donations received by cheque) and acknowledge grant funding.</li><li>File quarterly GST rebate claims.</li><li>Support the organization's annual audit by preparing schedules and responding to auditor requests.</li><li>Maintain accurate financial records and reconciliations using QuickBooks Online.</li><li>Reconcile bank and credit card accounts.</li><li>Prepare financial reports for the Financial Oversight Committee and Board of Directors.</li></ul><p><strong>Requirements </strong></p><ul><li>Demonstrated bookkeeping and accounting experience, preferably within the non-profit sector.</li><li>Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks Online (required).</li><li>Experience preparing monthly financial statements and account reconciliations.</li><li>Knowledge of Canadian non-profit accounting practices and government reporting requirements.</li><li>Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.</li><li>Ability to work independently and meet monthly reporting deadlines.</li><li>Strong written and verbal communication skills.</li><li>High level of integrity and commitment to confidentiality.</li></ul><p><strong>Why should you apply for this opportunity?</strong></p><ul><li>Remote position.</li><li>Flexible hours averaging approximately 16 hours per month, with additional hours during busy periods including audit and year-end reporting.</li><li>Opportunity to collaborate with a passionate Executive Director and a Board of seasoned executives.</li><li>Meaningful work supporting vulnerable children and families in Haiti.</li></ul><p><strong>Compensation</strong></p><ul><li>$35 CAD per hour</li></ul><p><strong>To Apply</strong></p><p>Please send your resume and a brief cover letter outlining your relevant experience to nicole<a href="mailto:info@littlefootprintsbigsteps.com" target="_blank">@littlefootprintsbigsteps.com</a> with the subject line "Part-Time Bookkeeper/Accountant (Independent Contractor)."</p>
