Online ESL Instructor – Power Up Program
Canada U-Tutoring Learning Institute is currently hiring three part-time Online ESL Instructors to teach students based in China through live online classes.
This position is a great opportunity for university students, recent graduates, aspiring teachers, or candidates who would like to gain meaningful teaching experience while working remotely.
Teachers will use the Power Up ESL program as the primary course material. All textbooks, lesson materials, and teaching resources will be provided by U-Tutoring, so instructors can focus primarily on lesson delivery, student engagement, and English-language development.
About the Role
As an Online ESL Instructor, you will teach children and school-aged students in China in a live virtual classroom environment.
Classes focus on developing students’ practical English abilities, including:
- Speaking and listening
- Vocabulary development
- Reading comprehension
- Grammar and sentence structure
- Pronunciation
- Everyday and academic communication
- Confidence using English independently
Teachers are expected to create an encouraging and interactive English-speaking environment while following the provided curriculum and lesson materials.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging online ESL lessons using the provided Power Up curriculum
- Teach primarily in English and provide students with clear and accurate language models
- Guide students through speaking, listening, reading, vocabulary, and grammar activities
- Encourage students to speak actively during lessons rather than passively listening
- Correct pronunciation and language errors appropriately
- Ask follow-up questions and encourage students to answer in complete sentences
- Adjust explanations and pacing based on each student’s English level
- Maintain a positive, patient, and professional online classroom environment
- Provide brief student feedback when required
- Communicate with the U-Tutoring academic and administrative team regarding student progress or classroom concerns
- Arrive prepared and on time for all scheduled online lessons
Qualifications
We welcome both experienced instructors and candidates who are newer to teaching.
Ideal candidates will have:
- Excellent spoken and written English
- Clear, accurate, and easy-to-understand pronunciation
- Strong command of English grammar, vocabulary, and everyday language
- Ability to explain English concepts clearly to younger learners
- Confident and professional communication skills
- Friendly and engaging on-camera presence
- Patience when working with ESL students
- Reliable internet connection, computer, webcam, and microphone
- Ability to maintain a professional online teaching environment
- Strong punctuality and reliability
Previous ESL teaching, tutoring, mentoring, camp, childcare, or educational experience is an asset but not required.
Education
Candidates currently completing or holding a college or university degree are welcome to apply.

U-Tutoring will provide the curriculum and teaching materials required for the program.
Schedule
This is a remote, part-time position.
Students are located in China, so classes are generally scheduled around China Standard Time (CST) morning and evening availability.
For instructors located in Ontario, teaching will therefore typically take place during early mornings and/or evenings in Eastern Time (EST).
Exact teaching schedules will depend on student enrollment and instructor availability.
Applicants who can consistently provide availability during these time periods will be prioritized.
Compensation
$18–$20 CAD per hour

Because students are learning English through direct interaction with their teacher, spoken-English quality, communication ability, and classroom presence will be important components of the interview process.
Hiring Process

- A short teaching demonstration using provided materials
Teaching experience is considered, but demonstrated teaching ability, communication skills, reliability, and ability to engage students will be equally important.
Pay: $18.00-$20.00 per hour
