Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Visiting Nursing - Part-time 0.8 (Evenings Only)

About the position

VON is a non-profit organization that provides clinical, personal and social support to people who want to live every day to the fullest while remaining in their own homes and communities. Our LPNs provide medical care to children, youth, adults and seniors in their homes and other settings in communities across Nova Scotia. This role requires a detail-oriented approach in a dynamic environment, with physical activity including lifting, carrying (using proper techniques), bending, reaching, kneeling, and other movements that emphasize good body mechanics. Individuals in the role are required to walk, sit, stand, and climb stairs throughout the day, with some tasks requiring fine hand movements.

Responsibilities

  • Provide medical care to children, youth, adults and seniors in their homes and other settings in communities across Nova Scotia.
  • Diabetes management
  • Dialysis
  • Medication management
  • Palliative care
  • Phlebotomy
  • Wound care; incl. negative pressure wound therapy and complex wounds

Requirements

  • Must be Licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the province of practice
  • A valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle is required
  • A current and original copy of a satisfactory Criminal Records Check is required and a Vulnerable Sector Search and/or a Child Abuse Registry Check may be required
  • Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
