Kitchen Assistant Volunteer

We support the individuals in our community in maintaining their independence, enhancing their social wellbeing, and optimizing their overall health and wellness through the provision of a wide range of community support services and leisure opportunities.</p><p><strong>POSITION SUMMARY</strong></p><p>Assist in the preparation and serving of food to the Adult Day Program. Carry out routine kitchen tasks during lunchtime and a clean working environment before and after serving lunch (including washing dishes). Assists with Hot-service preparation when required. </p><p><strong>MINIMUM HOURS PER WEEK</strong></p><p>2.5 hours any days Monday and Friday, from 11:00 am to 1:30 pm</p><p><strong>TASK REQUIREMENTS </strong></p><p>Punctual, reliable and patient. Interpersonal and communication skills. Customer service and food preparation skills. Knowledge of senior population and safe food handling protocol will be an asset. </p><p><strong>ADDITIONAL INFORMATION</strong></p><p>General volunteer orientation; On-the-job shadowing/training with Food Service Assistant or staff; Volunteer will be trained to follow special diet instructions and safe food handling protocol. Staff provides on-going support, answer questions and explain policies; Volunteer will be trained to follow special diet instructions and safe food handling protocol; Invitation to Annual General Meeting and Volunteer Recognition dinner; Reference letter (once completed minimum hours requirement and commitment).</p><p><strong>Benefits</strong></p><p>1.
