The Journeyman HVAC/Refrigeration Mechanic is located in Calgary, Alberta, reporting to the Operations Manager, and requires travel to surrounding areas. The Journeyman HVAC/Refrigeration Mechanic is primarily responsible for the efficient operations and maintenance to a variety of HVAC equipment. The position includes, but is not limited to, installation, identifying the cause of malfunctioning parts/equipment, repair, inspection, etc. Working directly with customers to ensure they are completely satisfied with the work required.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine predictive planned maintenance duties
- Complete work orders and deficiency reports
- Assemble and install refrigeration and air conditioning components
- Install, troubleshoot, and overhaul entire heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems
- Test heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration systems for leaks
- Repair and replace components for entire heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems
- Reading and interpreting blueprints
- Starting up and shutting down major building equipment seasonally
- Handle, recover and store refrigerants
- Test and repair electronic components
- May occasionally be required to work over 40 hours per week and be available for on-call duties
- Other duties as required
Requirements
- Journeyman HVAC
- Ability to attain and hold a Security clearance
- Ability to read and work from Mechanical / Electrical drawings, HVAC/R schematics, line drawings, etc
- Always maintain a professional demeanor with fellow employees and clients
- A team player, committed to working in a quality environment
- Ability to work in confined spaces and work on a ladder or scaffold at various heights
- Valid class 5 Driver’s license
- Be willing and able to join Local Union 488
- All applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
Nice-to-haves
- Knowledge of a variety of electronic, pneumatic and DDC control systems considered an asset
