IT Support Student Placement

Location:

This summer student placement is based at Elmwood Group Head Office at 257 Elmwood Drive, Moncton, New Brunswick.

Position Overview:

Elmwood Group is seeking a motivated and hands-on IT Support Student to join our team. This placement is ideal for a student currently enrolled in an Information Technology or related program requiring a work placement.

Working closely with our IT team, you will gain real-world experience supporting day-to-day IT operations in a fast-paced business environment.

This is a chance to gain meaningful IT experience in a professional environment, building skills you can apply immediately in your career.

What You’ll Do:

  • Assist with installation, configuration, and maintenance of computer hardware and software
  • Provide desk-side support to employees experiencing technical issues
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network-related problems
  • Support common tools such as Microsoft Office, email systems, POS systems, and video conferencing platforms
  • Assist with cell phone and printer setup and maintenance
  • Help install, diagnose, repair, and upgrade desktop and laptop equipment
  • Document technical issues and solutions
  • Support system upgrades and workstation setups
  • Escalate complex issues when necessary
What You’ll Learn:
  • Practical IT support experience in a business environment

  • Exposure to networking concepts (LAN/WAN, TCP/IP)

What We’re Looking For:

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary IT, Computer Science, or related program
  • Basic knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office (O365)
  • Familiarity with computer hardware and troubleshooting
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts (LAN/WAN, TCP/IP) is an asset
  • Bilingualism (French and English) is an asset
Soft Skills:
  • Strong customer service approach
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Resourceful and eager to learn
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
  • Strong problem-solving skills in a team-oriented environment
  • Good organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Customer service experience is required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and willingness to learn new software
