Import Assistant – Customs Clearance

We are excited to offer an opportunity for a customer-focused Import Clerk to join our growing Customs Team based in Santa Maria, Sal. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for supporting air, ocean, and road freight customs clearances. It’s an ideal opportunity for an ambitious and detail-oriented individual looking to advance their career in international trade and logistics.


YOUR ROLE

Reporting to the Import Team Leader, you will play a key part in ensuring all customs documentation is completed accurately and efficiently for goods entering and exiting Cape Verde.
You will work closely with internal departments, logistics partners, and regulatory bodies to ensure seamless customs clearance procedures.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Process customs clearances for air, ocean, and road freight shipments
  • Accurately enter data into customs systems and ensure full compliance with documentation requirements
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to resolve queries and ensure efficient goods movement
  • Maintain accurate records and uphold compliance with relevant customs regulations
  • Provide ongoing support to customers and colleagues throughout the clearance process

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • Experience in customs clearance or international imports/exports is preferred
  • Previous background in freight forwarding or logistics operations is advantageous
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to build and maintain strong client and team relationships
  • High level of attention to detail and problem-solving ability
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; knowledge of CargoWise or similar systems is a plus
  • A positive, collaborative team player with a customer-first mindset
