Bilingual Overnight Mental Health Counsellor

Remote – Anywhere in Canada

Permanent, Full time, Overnight

What You'll Do

  • Respond to client requests by phone, video call, or chat.
  • Assess client needs and direct them to the appropriate service.
  • Provide immediate support to clients who are distressed or in crisis, when necessary.

How You Will Make an Impact

  • You will be the first point of contact for clients and direct them to the appropriate service.
  • You will conduct a thorough assessment to determine the relevance of short-term counselling or referral to other internal services.
  • You will provide a single counselling session and/or perform crisis management as needed.
  • You will conduct a complete risk assessment to determine the need to implement a safety plan.
  • You will manage high-risk situations, including suicide risk, self-harm, child protection, and substance-related issues, and work closely with at-risk individuals.
  • You will interact with clients in an empathetic, ethical, and professional manner while protecting the confidentiality of their personal information.
  • You will maintain clear and concise clinical records using our internal platform.

Qualifications

  • You hold a Master's degree in mental health or a related field.
  • You are perfectly bilingual and fluent in French and English, both verbally and in writing.
  • You are comfortable with technology (video calls, chat, emails, etc.).
  • You have experience with crisis management, risk assessment, and risk management.
  • You can remain calm and in control, even in stressful or ambiguous situations.
  • You demonstrate sound clinical judgment and are able to quickly assess situations, identify an intervention goal, and support clients using a brief and strength-based approach.
  • You are empathetic, have good listening skills, and demonstrate excellent communication skills.
  • You can provide excellent customer service, manage client expectations, and respond effectively to their needs.
  • You are proactive, independent, resourceful, and open to feedback.
  • You thrive in a high volume and fast-paced environment.
  • You are available to work overnight, from Sunday to Thursday OR Tuesday to Saturday, from 11pm to 7:30am (Eastern time), including holidays.
