Gatehouse Security Officer

We are seeking proactive Gatehouse Attendants for full-time and part-time work. Oversee the operations at the entrance of our clients facility. This vital role involves controlling access points, monitoring activity through surveillance systems, and ensuring the safety and security of all personnel, visitors, and assets. As a Gatehouse Attendant, you will serve as the first line of contact while providing excellent customer service to everyone entering and exiting the premises. These are permanent positions based out of Guelph ON.

Available Shifts:

Full-time- Monday to Friday 1:00pm to 9:00pm $18/hr to start paid every week direct deposit

Part-time weekends- Saturday to Sunday 5:00pm to 5:00am $18/hr to start paid every week direct deposit

Gate-In Activities:

  • Greet arriving drivers and verify required paperwork, PPE compliance, and dock safety requirements.
  • Review purchase order (PO) information and confirm scheduled appointments using the warehouse management system.
  • Coordinate inbound trailer movements with Receiving, Dispatch, Cross-Dock, and other operational teams based on load type.
  • Direct drivers to the appropriate staging area, dock door, or receiving/shipping location.
  • Record and maintain load-related information, including fuel levels, temperature readings, load bars, cold walls, and DNU (Do Not Use) status as communicated by drivers.
  • Enter and validate all applicable purchase order numbers within the system, ensuring accuracy and completeness.

Gate-Out Activities:

  • Review outbound paperwork to ensure accuracy and consistency with trailer information.
  • Verify trailers are empty when required.
  • Verify purchase orders and shipment documentation before trailer departs.
  • Apply trailer seals and ensure all outbound loads meet operational requirements.
  • Communicate with Transportation, Dispatch, GBS, and other departments to resolve discrepancies, place shipments on hold, or confirm release authorization when required.

Yard and Site Support:

  • Assist with yard checks and trailer audits as required.
  • Monitor gate activity to ensure safe and efficient vehicle movement throughout the facility.
  • Maintain accurate records and provide timely communication to operational teams.
  • Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and security protocols.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in transportation, logistics, warehousing, or gatehouse operations is considered an asset.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately process documentation.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multiple departments in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with computer systems and data entry.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, resolve issues, and make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays as required.
