Engineering Leader - Substation (Remote)

This role has the responsibility of leading a Substation Engineering team responsible for reviewing, executing, and validating Greenfield and Brownfield Substation projects for renewable energy utility scale projects.The Substation Engineering Leader will be responsible for leading a team of Substation Engineers for all NEER and FRP substation activities from conceptual design through construction and commissioning execution.This position can be remote.Duties & Responsibilities :Lead a team of Substation Project Engineers that oversee the Engineering Scope of NEER Greenfield and Brownfield Substation Engineering projects :Execution of assigned substation tasks from conception (Early Stage) through construction and commissioning (Execution).Securing engineering consulting resources from a list of approved suppliers by developing a scope of work, securing bids, evaluating, and awarding work through NEER's Integrated Supply Chain (ISC) Group.Coordinate with other project stakeholders to develop and secure a substation site, support any engineering updates, data and permits necessary to design and build the substation.Coordinating the engineering deliverables including scope of work documents, Issued for Bid, Issued for Procurement, Issued for Construction, design criteria and As-built drawings.Coordination with other groups to ensure that the assigned E&C substation projects are successful.Generally responsible for representing E&C's internal and external interests on assigned projects, including presentations / briefing on current progress, issues, and risk mitigation in meetings with various levels of management.Support Interconnection Services during review of interconnection documentation including system impact studies, facility studies, reactive and harmonic studies and Interconnection agreements and ensures that Transmission Owner requirements and E&C engineering design are consistent and in compliance with all ISO requirements and incorporated into the project design.Must be able to work with and communicate often to the respective transmission owners / operators / ISOs to ensure project deliverables will meet specific off-taker requirements, are timely and accurate.Works collaboratively with project engineering resources in various disciplines to determine project priorities, work plans and lines of demarcation.Ensures projects are efficiently, cost effectively, and safely implemented in accordance with department process, procedures, industry standards and policies.Support Legal in any regulatory filings, depositions and / or hearings.Collaborate with component OEMs to enhance / adapt their designs to better integrate with NEER's philosophies.Preferred Work Experience :Seasoned leader with substation design and operational experienceDemonstrates excellent communication, time management, interpersonal and organizational skillsAbility to work on multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines by setting prioritiesExcellent verbal and written communication skillsExperience with Microsoft Software Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) and additional software knowledge depending on specializationWe will be accepting applications on an ongoing basis.Job OverviewEmployees in this role lead a team of engineers and technical specialists that perform engineering functions.Job Duties & ResponsibilitiesPlans and leads project engineers in basic, unique and complex projectsActs as technical liaison and provides training and development for engineering personnelAssumes a lead role on team / assignments and provides direction to others as requiredPerforms other job-related duties as assignedRequired QualificationsBachelor's - EngineeringExperience :6yearsSupervisor / Management Experience :0yearsPreferred QualificationsCertified Professional Engineer (PE)Six Sigma Black Belt CertifiedSix Sigma Green Belt CertifiedMaster's DegreeSix Sigma Master Black BeltThe estimated base pay for this position is $124,000.00 to $186,000.00 per year.Starting pay will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, experience, qualifications, job-related and industry knowledge and skills and education / training.NextEra Energy offers a wide range of benefits to support our employees and their eligible family members.Click to learn more..
