<p>Love dogs, community care, and bringing people together? š¾ā¤ļø</p><p>ElderDog Canadaās VanCity Pawd is looking for a compassionate volunteer leader to help support our growing team of volunteers helping seniors and their beloved dogs stay connected.</p><p>As Pawd Leader, youāll help guide a friendly volunteer team, support local coordination efforts, and help strengthen a meaningful community program making a real difference across Vancouver.</p><p>This flexible volunteer leadership role is ideal for someone organized, communicative, community-minded, and passionate about helping both people and dogs.</p><p>Leadership experience is welcome, but mentorship and ongoing support are provided.<br><br>ElderDog is a 100% volunteer-run, national charity dedicated to ageing people and ageing dogs. ElderDog:</p><p><br>š¾ Ā Helps seniors in the care and well-being of their canine companions;</p><p><br>š¾ Ā Re-homes older dogs who have lost their human companion due to illness, relocation or death;</p><p><br>š¾ Ā Supports research and educates people including health professionals about the human-animal bond and the significant role of companion animals in the health and well-being of seniors.<br><br>ElderDog operates in chapters or Pawds in communities across the country. The structure of each Pawd includes a leadership team of program coordinators, volunteers in non-leadership roles, and a Pawd Leader who provides overall leadership and serves as a liaison with National Office.<br>Ā </p><ol><li><p><strong>Responsibilities and Requirements</strong></p><p>As Pawd Leader, you would:</p><ul><li>have an understanding of and respect for the senior-canine bond;</li><li>possess strong leadership and interpersonal skills;</li><li>represent ElderDog Canadaās goals and mission in accordance with ElderDogās Credo, Organizational Ethic, code of conduct, principles, and practices;</li><li>understand the Pawd as part of ElderDog Canada and accountable to the Federal Charities Directorate;</li><li>become familiar with all facets of ElderDog programs and services offered nationally and locally and develop, through mentorship, an in-depth understanding of all ElderDog Canadaās programs, guidelines, branding, and messaging;</li><li>work in community with members of the Pawd leadership team to facilitate ElderDog ābusinessā according to ElderDog policies and guidelines;</li><li>facilitate a spirit of cooperation and mutual regard within the Pawd;</li><li>connect with other ElderDog Pawd Leaders across the country;</li><li>call and chair Pawd meetings;</li><li>participate in bi-monthly virtual meetings with other Pawd Leaders;</li><li>communicate with Pawd members and National Office on an ongoing basis;</li><li>represent ElderDog at information and outreach events and in the community;</li><li>serve as back-up for other roles as needed and serve as main contact for urgent matters related to ElderDogās mission;</li><li>serve as an ambassador for ElderDog Canada and the Pawd.</li></ul></li></ol><p>Learn more about ElderDog Canada and volunteer opportunities at <a href="" target="_blank"><strong>elderdog.ca</strong></a>!Ā <br><br>Ā š¾ ā¤ļø <em><strong>Help Keep Love in the Home!Ā </strong> ā¤ļøš¾</em></p>
