Educational Assistants work collaboratively is assisting students with diverse needs and abilities, fostering engagement in the learning environment.<br><br><strong>Duties Included In The Role Of All Educational Assistants<br><br></strong><ul><li>Working within established school structures, including classroom management structures, behavioural rules and student expectations</li><li>Working with students with behavioural and learning challenges</li><li>Providing academic assistance to students in classroom, small group and individual settings</li><li>Delivering specialized or adapted programming to students under the direction of the classroom teacher and resource teacher</li><li>Providing documentation of students-specific program performance</li><li>Providing supports for students with challenging educational needs</li><li>Supervising recess and lunch duty</li><li>Supervising and assisting with the swim program, which includes entering the water</li><li>Administering student medication as determined by the student’s U.R.I.S. plan</li><li>Supporting students in community based programs</li><li>Supporting students’ emotional, behavioural and physical needs</li><li>Being flexible in terms of adapting to students’ educational programming</li><li>Using augmentative and alternative communication</li><li>Facilitating the transport of students between education sites<br><br></li></ul><strong>Duties specific to the role of an EA2 include some or all of the following tasks:<br><br></strong><ul><li>Diapering and assisting with or providing for personal care needs</li><li>Providing toileting assistance to students</li><li>Lifting and assisting with transitional movements and mobility training</li><li>Administering health care procedures including gastronomy feeding</li><li>Utilizing specialized devices and equipment</li><li>Other duties as assigned</li></ul>
