Dairy Herdsperson

We are seeking two dedicated Dairy Herdspersons to join our team at Evergreen Holsteins Inc. in Ethel, Ontario, Canada. This role is vital in supporting our daily operations and maintaining the high standards of our farm. The Dairy Herdsperson will contribute to the care of our livestock and the upkeep of farm equipment.

Job Duties Include;

  • Perform and assist with the daily care and handling of dairy cattle
  • Milk cows and ensure proper milking procedures and milk quality standards are maintained
  • Monitor herd health; recognize, report, and assist in treating health concerns
  • Assist with and oversee calving and fresh cows
  • Assist with artificial insemination and breeding programs
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date livestock and production records
  • Train and supervise general farm workers as required
  • Assist with the operation, basic maintenance, and minor repairs of farm machinery and equipment
  • Support general farm upkeep, including barn cleaning, bedding, feeding, and outdoor maintenance
  • Carry out all other general farm duties as needed to support daily operations
Job Requirements:
  • Must be able to work full-time hours, including mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Physically capable of performing repetitive tasks, standing for extended periods, and working in barn conditions
  • Applicants must have a minimum of 1 year to 2 years of hands-on farm experience. (Please provide any relevant reference letters with your application)
Work Environment:
  • Fast-paced dairy farm setting
  • Exposure to livestock, equipment, and varying weather conditions
Wage & Vacancies: $19.06 per hour working full time with an average 45-60 hours per week.
