Custodian (Facilities) - Day Shift

Work Schedule: Day Shift: Monday – Friday; 6:30 am – 3:00 pm (40hrs per week)

Compensation

At S&C, we are dedicated to providing competitive and equitable compensation for all our team members and are committed to transparency in our pay practices . The estimated hourly base pay rate for this position is $ 21 .

This position may also be eligible for S&C’s annual incentive plan (AIP). AIP amounts are variable and are dependent on both company and team performance, subject to eligibility criteria. The target bonus percentage for this role is 4% of annual base earnings.

Join Our Team as a Custodian!

S&C Electric Company is seeking a dynamic individual for our maintenance function. As a Custodian, you will be crucial in ensuring smooth operations and supporting our diverse team. You will work in a production environment, engage in continuous productive activity and must meet requirements within predetermined time constraints. Tasks require the use of both hands and arms on a repetitive basis for a full range of motion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance/cleaning of floor surfaces: sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, buffing and waxing, power scrubbing
  • General maintenance of cleaning equipment
  • Collect, sort and compact waste disposal
  • Contact with disposal firms when necessary
  • Clear entrances and site sidewalks: sweep leaves/clear snow, snow-melt application, pick up wind-blown debris
  • Support for office re-arrangements
  • Assist in the setup and cleanup of meetings, including rooms and set aside parking areas
  • Stock paper and soap products throughout the facility
  • Clean and upkeep the washrooms

We are looking for someone who:
• Has experience in commercial cleaning, considered an asset but not required
• Has knowledge of the operation of single-stage snow blowers, ride-on power scrubbers, and floor buffing/scrubbing machines
• Is self-motivated and can work independently as well as within a team environment
• A team member who fully supports our Guiding Principles and naturally conducts themselves accordingly

Physical demands:

  • Standing: All tasks are performed in a standing position with intermittent walking.
  • Lifting: Frequent lifting of items ranging in weight from 5 lbs to 20 lbs.
  • Walking: Occasional walking moderate distances (less than 1km).
  • Carrying: Frequent carrying of items ranging in weight from 5 lbs. to 20 lbs.
  • Pushing: Occasional pushing of motorized material handling carts with loaded weights up to 1000 lbs.
  • Pulling: Occasional pulling of motorized material handling carts with loaded weights up to 1000 lbs.
  • Bending: Frequent bending and crouching to safely lift parts of various sizes and shapes.
  • Reaching: Continuous full range of motion from above the shoulders to below the knees.
  • Handling: Continuous handling of parts ranging in weight from 5 lbs. to 20 lbs.
