Position Summary

We are looking for a detail-oriented and collaborative Corporate Accountant to join our Finance & Accounting team. This role is responsible for supporting the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of corporate financial reporting while contributing to strong financial controls and efficient accounting processes.

Working closely with Finance, People & Culture, Operations, and other business partners, the Corporate Accountant will play an important role in month-end and year-end reporting, reconciliations, budgeting, financial analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
Corporate Accounting & Financial Operations

Set up and maintain new condominium corporation and developer accounts within Yardi.

Process and charge monthly management fees.

Manage bi-weekly accounts payable processing, ensuring invoices are properly supported, approved, and retained for audit purposes.

Monitor accounts receivable and accounts payable for aging reports, ensuring timely collections and effective communication with Accounting and Operations teams.

Perform daily bank reconciliations and oversee transaction accuracy.

Support treasury activities, including daily cash position monitoring and weekly cash reporting.

Month-End & Financial Reporting

Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations, including bank accounts, accounts receivable, prepaids, intercompany accounts, fixed assets, accounts payable, and accruals.

Maintain accurate and complete general ledger records while ensuring strict confidentiality of financial information.

Execute month-end close activities, including the preparation of accruals for recurring operating expenses such as leases, rent, payroll-related expenses, professional fees, IT costs, and other corporate expenditures.

Prepare employee charge-back invoices to condominium corporations for contract work and temporary operational support.

Compliance & Audit Support

Ensure timely filing and remittance of HST and WSIB obligations.

Prepare year-end working papers to support tax filings and annual external audits.

Assist with audit requests and provide supporting documentation as required.

Projects & Continuous Improvement

Support the Assistant Controller and finance leadership team with special projects, process improvements, and ad hoc financial analysis.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.

CPA designation completed or in progress is considered a strong asset.

Minimum 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in corporate accounting, property management, real estate, or condominium management.

Strong understanding of full-cycle accounting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, accruals, month-end close, and financial reporting.

Experience preparing account reconciliations, audit working papers, and supporting year-end financial processes.

Solid knowledge of Canadian accounting practices, including HST and WSIB reporting requirements.

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and financial data analysis.

Experience working with Yardi experience is highly preferred.

Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.

Demonstrated ability to handle confidential financial information with professionalism and integrity.
