Clinical Social Worker
<p><strong>About DESTA</strong></p><p>Based in Little Burgundy and serving participants across Greater Montreal, DESTA offers access to a hub of services and partnerships that empower the Black community through programs rooted in social and economic justice. We provide holistic, individualized services and advocacy to promote well-being and opportunity.</p><p><strong>The Opportunity</strong></p><p>The Re-entry Clinical Social Worker will provide holistic counseling and psychotherapy services to incarcerated and formerly incarcerated individuals participating in DESTA’s Re-entry Program.</p><p><strong>Responsibilities</strong></p><ul><li>Conduct psychosocial assessments for individuals preparing for release, in transitional housing, or with a history of criminal justice involvement.</li><li>Support clients with mental health needs using culturally appropriate, trauma-informed approaches.</li><li>Provide crisis intervention, brief therapy, short-term supportive counseling, and psychotherapy.</li><li>Deliver individual and group psychotherapy addressing psychological issues related to incarceration.</li><li>Develop and implement evidence-informed treatment plans to support successful community re-entry.</li><li>Monitor client progress and adjust treatment plans collaboratively with team members and health professionals.</li><li>Complete documentation and reporting promptly; participate in case management and consultation meetings.</li><li>Establish and maintain community partnerships within Little Burgundy/Sud-Ouest and Greater Montreal.</li><li>Travel to designated sites to provide services.</li><li>Provide training and supervision to trainees, interns, and students.</li><li>Assist in policy, protocol, or procedure development as needed.</li><li>Perform other duties as assigned.</li></ul><p><strong>Qualifications</strong></p><ul><li>Master’s degree in social work with registration or eligibility for registration with OTSTCFQ, or psychotherapist’s permit with OPQ.</li><li>Minimum 1 year clinical counseling and/or psychotherapy experience, including cognitive and behavioral therapies.</li><li>Skilled in psychological and risk assessments, individual/group therapy, and crisis intervention.</li><li>Experience with common mental health disorders: Major Depressive Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, ADHD, PTSD, trauma, grief, etc.</li><li>Excellent interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, organizational, time management, and self-care skills.</li><li>Collaborative team player with ability to supervise trainees and interns.</li><li>Flexible availability including evenings and weekends as required.</li><li>Strong commitment to social justice, community health, and restorative justice values.</li><li>Knowledge of issues impacting incarcerated and formerly incarcerated people.</li><li>Experience working with this population or in correctional settings is an asset.</li></ul><p><strong>Additional Assets</strong></p><ul><li>Experience in non-profit environments.</li><li>Understanding of challenges facing Montreal’s Anglophone Black Community and racial equity issues.</li><li>Bilingual in English and French.</li></ul><p><strong>DESTA’s Commitment</strong></p><p>We are dedicated to building a diverse and inclusive team with a deep understanding of the Black experience.
