Clinical Business Analyst Clinical Documentation – Inpatient Medicine

Job Description On behalf of our Healthcare Client, Affinity Healthcare Solutions is looking for a Clinical Business Analyst Clinical Documentation – Inpatient Medicine, to support the CIS Program. The role of the Clin Doc Analyst encompasses several activities to develop clinical standards and the implementation of the CIS for use throughout the province.

The primary focus is to support the creation of standard order sets, documentation templates and other workflows used by physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, and other regulated health professionals providing bedside care as it relates to Documentation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the standardization, build, and implementation of clinical documentation practices and related workflows across healthcare environments.
  • Act as an SME on the impact of CIS platforms and digital transformation initiatives on clinical documentation processes and workflows.
  • Facilitate stakeholder engagement sessions to document current-state processes and gather feedback for future-state designs.
  • Gather, analyse, and document business and system requirements.
  • Conduct gap analyses and develop current-state and future-state workflow designs.
  • Collaborate with SMEs and clinical stakeholders to develop and refine clinical standards.
  • Support the successful adoption and implementation of new clinical documentation standards.
  • Partner with project teams to ensure smooth delivery, implementation, and stakeholder communication.

  • Facilitate workshops and stakeholder sessions to elicit and validate business and technical requirements.

  • Support stakeholder engagement and communication activities throughout implementation.

Mandatory Requirements
  • University degree in Healthcare, Business Administration, Information Technology, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of experience as a Clinical Analyst, Clinical Informatics Analyst, or equivalent, including:
  • Clinical documentation requirements gathering

  • Workshop facilitation

  • Use case analysis

  • Business process analysis

  • Detailed design activities

  • Business analysis documentation
  • 5+ years of experience supporting large-scale acute care digital health transformation or Clinical Information System (CIS/EHR) implementation initiatives.
  • Experience building, configuring, or implementing enterprise-scale Clinical Information Systems.
  • Experience delivering clinical solutions and documentation supporting Inpatient Medicine.
  • Availability to begin work within the required timeframe.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience supporting:

  • Clinical documentation initiatives

  • Requirements gathering and analysis

  • Workshop facilitation

  • Use case development

  • Business process analysis
  • Solution design, build, and implementation activities
  • Inpatient Medicine workflows within acute care settings

Additional Experience With
  • Computerized Provider Order Entry (CPOE)

  • Strong verbal and written communication, facilitation, and presentation skills in both English and French.
  • 3+ years of experience leading workshops with healthcare providers to define business requirements, system requirements, user stories, and use cases.
  • 5+ years of experience working independently while engaging effectively with project teams, SMEs, and stakeholders at all levels.
  • 5+ years of experience managing multiple project streams and priorities in parallel.
  • 5+ years of experience using:
  • Microsoft 365 (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Outlook, Teams)

  • Atlassian Jira
  • Experience working within public healthcare organizations and environments.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare operations, policies, and clinical practices.
