Case Manager, Worker's Compensation
Job Description:
- Manage complex occupational injury cases for clients in a matrix team environment
- Guide clients through continuous improvement to reduce the impact of occupational injuries on organizational and financial performance
- Advise clients on maintaining the employment relationship
- Accompany clients during workplace visits that are part of the rehabilitation process
- Collaborate with stakeholders to develop strategies for managing disputes
- Propose solutions to improve occupational health and safety management practices and performance, including training, medical assessments, prevention, legal services, outsourcing, and ergonomics
- Assist employees and employers when employees are off work or at risk of being off work for occupational or non-occupational health reasons
- Assess barriers to successful and timely return-to-work and engage stakeholders to implement strategies addressing those barriers
Requirements:
- Ontario Law Society Paralegal License in good standing is a must-have requirement
- 5+ years of comprehensive experience in Disability Case Management and/or Occupational Injury Case Management, or a combination of experience and specialized education
- Background education/coursework in occupational health, rehabilitation, disability-management legislation, helping relationship skills, mediation, human resource management, disability insurance, industrial relations, business administration, or psychological and workplace factors in disability is an asset
- Registration or professional status within the disability management or professional health sector is an asset
- Strong communication skills with exceptional customer service focus
- Exemplary interpersonal skills and ability to approach difficult situations with empathy and sensitivity
- Detail-oriented focus and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to apply critical thinking to complex situations
- Demonstrated solutions-oriented decision-making ability
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Strong analytical skills and ability to synthesize detailed information
- Ability to collaborate as part of a team and work autonomously as needed
- Full proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Exposure to Microsoft Teams and SharePoint
