The Café Food Services Associate is responsible for serving and preparing food for Company staff and guests (consisting of approximately 200 people) in a friendly and timely manner. The server is also responsible for ensuring that the YM Café is stocked with necessary food items and supplies and that food preparation meets health and safety standards and that good prep/serving are kept neat, clean and organized. This opportunity is 5 Days a week from 7am to 3pm.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve food
  • Respond promptly to customer needs, requests for service and assistance by providing customer service, greeting and acknowledging each customer, and being knowledgeable of food items
  • Accurately and efficiently process customer transactions through registers while ensuring cash variances are kept to a minimum
  • Maintain safe, clean and orderly appearance of the café
  • Adhere to the Health Protection and Promotion Act regarding food handling standards: wear clean garments, wear headgear that confines hair, wash hands before handling any food items etc.
  • Assist in ensuring that product quality and cafe standards are executed and maintained; manage inventory levels, receiving, purchasing, waste control, and equipment maintenance and repair
  • Ensure Café inventory is stocked and replenished with food items and supplies weekly
  • Store food items and ensure that they are protected from contamination and expiration and are kept in a sanitary manner
  • Adhere to corporate health and safety policy requirements that contribute to a safe work place

Qualifications

  • High School education
  • Previous food experience, an asset
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Very pleasant and amiable manner
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Excellent time management skills
