Bookkeeper (Part-Time, Flexible Hours)

Location: Nanaimo, BC or Beaumont, AB (depending on the successful applicant)

We're looking for an experienced, detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our growing firm.

We are a boutique bookkeeping and tax practice serving small businesses across Canada. We pride ourselves on building long-term relationships with our clients and providing accurate, proactive bookkeeping that helps business owners make informed decisions.

This is a permanent part-time position with flexible hours. The successful applicant will work with a variety of clients, including retail, construction, franchise businesses, restaurants, and professional services.

Responsibilities

  • Full-cycle bookkeeping using QuickBooks Online
  • Bank and credit card reconciliations
  • Accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Payroll processing and government remittances
  • GST preparation
  • Month-end reconciliations and financial reporting
  • Organizing and reviewing source documents
  • Catch-up and clean-up bookkeeping projects
  • Communicating professionally with clients
  • Assisting with document management during tax season
For Alberta-based applicants, occasional local document pickups and client visits may also be part of the role. (Mostly south Edmonton, Leduc & Beaumont)

Qualifications

We're looking for someone who:
  • Has 3+ years of bookkeeping experience.
  • Is comfortable using QuickBooks Online.
  • Has excellent attention to detail.
  • Enjoys solving problems and working independently.
  • Communicates professionally and confidently with clients.
  • Can manage multiple client files while meeting deadlines.
  • Is organized and reliable.
  • Has experience with Dext (an asset).
  • Has restaurant bookkeeping experience (an asset, but not required).
  • Tax preparation experience an asset
About You You're someone who enjoys taking ownership of your work and genuinely cares about producing accurate books. You understand that every client is different, and you're comfortable learning new industries and processes.

You don't need constant supervision, but you appreciate being part of a supportive team that values quality over rushing through work.
