Reporting to the Senior Category Manager, The Mobile Shop, the Assistant Manager, Category Management will support the planning, execution, and analysis of category initiatives across The Mobile Shop business. They will collaborate with key stakeholders including Marketing, Inventory, IT, Loblaw, Loss Prevention, and external partners to ensure pricing, promotions, products, and services are executed accurately and effectively. This individual will provide analytical support, market insights, and operational coordination to help drive sales performance, improve customer experience, and support strategic business objectives. 

What you'll do:

  • Support the execution of category initiatives and promotional campaigns in partnership with Marketing, Inventory, IT, and other cross-functional teams 

  • Ensure offers are accurately executed across all customer-facing channels, including digital and web platforms, with appropriate pricing, products, and services 

  • Maintain and support the quarterly promotional and marketing calendar to ensure a consistent and competitive customer offering 

  • Monitor and assess weekly promotional performance, identifying opportunities to improve effectiveness and competitiveness 

  • Conduct regular competitive pricing reviews and market analysis to support pricing and promotional strategies 

  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners to support successful execution of business initiatives 

  • Coordinate and communicate category updates, program changes, and key business information to relevant stakeholders and partners 

  • Support the preparation of Monthly Business Reviews (MBRs), Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs), and other ad hoc business presentations 

  • Analyze daily, weekly, and monthly sales performance, providing actionable insights and recommendations to support business decisions 

  • Conduct market research on industry trends, competitor activity, emerging products, services, and growth opportunities 

  • Conduct regular store visits to assess execution, gather field feedback, and identify opportunities to improve performance and customer experience 

  • Develop reporting and analytical tools to support category performance tracking and decision-making 

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements, operational efficiencies, and business growth 

  • Other projects as required 

 

What you bring:

  • Post-secondary education in Business, Marketing, Commerce, or a related field 

  • 1–3 years of experience in category management, retail merchandising, marketing, sales analysis, or a related business function 

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret sales and market data and provide actionable insights 

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint 

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment 

  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills 

  • Experience working cross-functionally with multiple stakeholders 

  • Knowledge of the wireless, consumer electronics, or retail industry is considered an asset 

  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment
