Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc., (SGA), is searching for an <strong> Application Database Engineer </strong>for a <strong> contract</strong> assignment with one of our premier financial services clients in <strong> Mississauga, ON</strong>.<br><br><strong>Responsibilities </strong> :<br><br><ul><li>Manage and integrate our hybrid data landscape. This role requires hands-on expertise with on-premise Oracle databases, Starburst for data federation, and private cloud-hosted platforms like Snowflake and Databricks, with a strong focus on leveraging Apache Iceberg. </li><li>Administer and maintain on-premise Oracle databases and private cloud instances of Snowflake and Databricks. </li><li>Manage and optimize Starburst to provide a unified, high-performance data federation layer. </li><li>Implement and manage Apache Iceberg as the open table format to ensure interoperability across all data platforms. </li><li>Ensure seamless data integration, performance tuning, and high availability between on-premise and cloud systems. </li><li>Collaborate with data analytics and engineering teams to build and support a scalable, modern data ecosystem. <br><br></li></ul><strong> Required </strong> <strong> Skills</strong>:<br><br><ul><li>Experience : 10+yrs </li><li>Strong experience with on-premise Oracle DB administration. </li><li>Hands-on expertise with data federation platforms, specifically Starburst (or Trino). </li><li>Proven experience with private cloud data platforms, including Snowflake and Databricks. </li><li>Deep, practical experience with Apache Iceberg table format and architecture. </li><li>Expertise in data modeling, cross-platform integration, and performance optimization in a hybrid environment. <br><br></li></ul>SGA is a technology and resource solutions provider driven to stand out.
