Accounts Receivable/Collections Specialist

Job Summary

Our client is seeking a dedicated and results-driven Accounts Receivable/Collections Specialist to join their finance team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the company’s accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely collection of outstanding balances, and maintaining accurate financial records.

Employment Type: Contract possibly to Permanent

Working Hours: Monday to Friday 8:30am-5pm 100% in office (Dixie & Highway 401)

Responsibilities

  • Manage accounts receivable functions by generating invoices and ensuring their accuracy using accounting software such as Truckmate.
  • Monitor customer accounts for overdue payments, initiate collection efforts, and follow up professionally via phone or email.
  • Reconcile customer accounts regularly to identify discrepancies and resolve billing issues efficiently.
  • Maintain detailed records of collections activities, payment histories, and account statuses.
  • Collaborate with clients to negotiate payment arrangements while upholding positive customer service standards.
  • Perform data entry tasks related to payments received, adjustments, and account updates with precision.
  • Support month-end closing procedures by preparing reports on outstanding balances and aging summaries.
  • Use analysis skills to evaluate account information, perform account reconciliations, and ensure compliance with company policies.

Experience

  • Minimum of two years experience in accounts receivable and/or collections within a professional environment.
  • Demonstrated ability in negotiation, customer service excellence, and effective phone etiquette.
  • Excellent math skills combined with strong analysis capabilities for account reconciliation and account analysis tasks.
  • Familiarity with Truckmate is considered an asset.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
