Hanford Lumber Ltd. is seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Clerk – Accounts Payable & Receivable to support our accounting and finance operations. This role is responsible for day-to-day accounting functions, maintaining accurate financial records, and supporting month-end processes.

This position is ideal for someone with strong accounting fundamentals who enjoys structure, responsibility, and working in a professional, long-term environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounts Payable & Receivable

  • Process and enter accounts payable invoices, matching purchase orders and delivery slips
  • Prepare weekly cheque runs and ensure timely payments
  • Follow up on overdue accounts and maintain collection records
  • Process credit applications and open new accounts with CFO approval

General Accounting

  • Assist with month-end and year-end closings
  • Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and financial schedules
  • Maintain accurate general ledger records
  • Assist with government remittances (HST/GST, WSIB) and audit preparation

Banking & Payroll Support

  • Perform bank reconciliations and monitor cash receipts
  • Assist with payroll processing and benefits administration
  • Maintain petty cash records

Office Support

  • Order office supplies and manage inventory cost-effectively

Qualifications:

  • 2–3+ years of accounting or accounts payable/receivable experience
  • Bookkeeping experience considered an asset
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or ERP systems
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Clear communication skills when dealing with vendors and customers
