SEI Bentonite is a young, sales-driven company supported by strong logistics, based in Toronto. SEI has a global reach and is currently experiencing exciting growth! We are eager to expand our team to support our growing needs and are seeking a talented Accountant.

o We value a “can do attitude” and “hands on approach.”

o We succeed as a team and fail as a team.

Position Summary:

We are a young, growing company looking for a highly hands-on, detail-oriented Accountant to take ownership of our day-to-day accounting operations across Canadian and U.S. entities. The successful candidate will be comfortable working independently in a fast-paced start up environment where processes may still be evolving.

This is a doer role. We are not looking for someone focused on financial strategy, forecasting or business partnering- at this time. We need someone who enjoys getting into the details, keeping the books clean and current, solving accounting issues and making sure the numbers are accurate and reliable.

Key Responsibilities:

o Monthly reporting for Canadian and US entities provided to the CEO and COO

o Manage day-to-day financial transactions, including accounts payable and accounts receivable.

o Accurately record and maintain financial data in the company's accounting system.

o Reconcile bank statements, credit card statements, and other financial documents.

o Prepare and process invoices, purchase orders, and expense reports.

o Monitor cash flow and assist with cash management activities.

o Assist with month-end and year-end financial close processes.

o Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of financial transactions and ensure proper documentation.

Key Attributes / Preferences

o Hands-on – you don't need someone else to tell you how to get the accounting done.

o Technically strong – you understand the "why" behind the numbers, not just how to enter them.

o Highly organized – you keep things clean, current and documented.

o Detail-oriented – you catch discrepancies before they become problems.

o Resourceful – you are comfortable figuring things out when the answer isn't immediately obvious.

o Independent – you can manage your priorities without constant direction.

o Comfortable with ambiguity – you can operate effectively while processes and systems continue to evolve.
